On a cold and frosty morning (-5oC) 27
people
turned out  for the walk from Calver to Froggat and back.
29 species of bird were seen in total with the best birds being  pairs of Mandarin Duck, Goosander and Dipper.

Clumber Park

Meet: 9.00am main car park. Morning walk returning to car park for packed lunch or visit the cafe, followed by an afternoon walk,
     Seventeen people met in the car park at Clumber in more clement weather than on the previous walk at Calver. The morning was spent  looking around the Church and in the woodlands for Hawfinch but there were none to be found.
      After lunch we went across to the south side of the lake to look for the Great Grey Shrike that had been reported in the area, and yes we found it. What a fantastic bird. All got a good view as it flew round and perched on top of the trees to pose for us.

Meet: 10.00am Tideswell Dale pay and display car park(Turn left off B6049 Tideswell to Millers Dale road)

16 people attended the walk which started at 10am and ended just after 5pm. The weather was very kind to us and kept fine and sunny. Best birds were Redstart and Wheatear.  There was a Little Grebe's nest with parents sitting on 4 eggs and lots of ducklings and baby coot (picture). Ice Cream was enjoyed by all in Litton.

 Report on the 2006 programme of walks

On the 17 walks undertaken a total of 90 species were seen or heard. Since 1994 a total of 231 walks have been undertaken and a total of 138 species recorded.
Notable species recorded on each walk are noted.
